After being scouted at her local supermarket in Fulham, London, the once real-life Rapunzel Lucan Gillespie headed directly to the pages of Vogue UK in a photoshoot with Tim Walker. Gillespie, who is a self-taught guitarist and budding photographer, caught the attention of LOUIS VUITTON, who then secured her for their Fall15 worldwide exclusive show. She proceeded to emerge on the runways of designers including ANNA SUI, BURBERRY, FENDI, SIMONE ROCHA, DIOR and GUCCI while securing advertising campaigns for J.W ANDERSON with Jamie Hawkesworth, ZARA with Paul Wetherell, ANNA SUI with Laurie Bartley and MULBERRY with Billy Ballard. Gillespie traded in her signature long-locks for a Mia Farrow-esque cropped pixie in her new-look debut for MIU MIU Resort 2019, leading to securing MIU MIU advertising productions for Croisiere 2019 photographed by Alasdair LcLellan; More Holiday directed by Gordon von Steiner and a repeat collaboration with MULBERRY for their Spring19 ads with Oliver Hadlee Pearch. In any hair-do moment, Gillespie made waves with A-list photographers & editors of major fashion publications for editorials including Vogue UK, Vogue Italia, Vogue Portugal, Vogue Ukraine, Vogue Turkey, Vogue HK, Vogue China, Vogue USA, Love, Self Service and Dazed Magazine while landing on the covers of Wonderland, ES Magazine and her most recent October 2019 issue for Numero China. The English hot-lister announced her first acting role for BBC1 and Netflix’s upcoming series The Serpent about the true story of international serial killer Charles Sobhraj. A booking like this means Gillespie has already earned herself that precursory moniker––budding actress. On March 19, 2024 Lucan took to the theater stage to interpret the role of the iconic Edie Sedgwick in "Dorothy", a play written & directed by Anais Ngbanzo.
